Advertising Booking Terms and Conditions and Cancellation Policy

Cancellations can only be made and accepted within 24 hours of the initial booking date or 48 hours after receiving the proof document. The proof document is your 'the Clients' advert or advertorial, firm profile, or individual biography.

By agreeing to any of our proposals that we may present you, or to your firm to appear in The Lawyers Global^® magazines, in any of its supplements or awards programs, 'your acceptance' constitutes confirmation and agreement of the offers. You are creating and entering a legally binding contract, and payment of your invoice is due in full on receipt of the invoice.

Inquiries, Replies, and Suspensions

We take customer care and support very seriously. When you or your law firm requests information from us concerning listings, awards, or any active programs, we expect you or your law firm to reply or confirm that you received our message. In the same way, you wish a quick and comprehensive reply to your inquiries from us.

If we do not receive a reply from you or your law firm, any applicable programs, subscriptions, and eventual discounts will be suspended immediately.

For listed law firms, which do not reply after five consecutive emails from our departments, the law firm will be suspended without further notice and with the public remark on their profile and listed as "Suspended Law Firm: Violation of Terms and Conditions."

Client's Liability

Publishing

By accepting our offer to advertise or place a paid-for advert or advertorial, firm profile, and or individual biography, you 'the Client' will be accountable for providing relevant copy materials. These materials may include but are not limited to an advert, logos, text, graphics for our production team at The Lawyers Global^® to complete your booking.

If The Lawyers Global^® does not receive the materials before the production deadline, we reserve the right to produce your advert or advertorial, firm profile, and individual biography to complete the booking. You 'the Client' will receive proof of your advert or advertorial or your firm profile and or individual biography by email and will have 48 hours to inform The Lawyers Global^® of any amendments that you require or to inform The Lawyers Global^® by email that you would like to cancel the booking.

If you do not respond to the proofing email sent by The Lawyers Global^® magazines for your advert or advertorial, firm profile, and or individual biography, it will be taken as no changes or amendments are required regardless of the advert or advertorial, firm profile, and or individual biography being produced by you 'the Client' or by 'The Lawyers Global^®' and therefore the delivered work will be the final copy to be published, and no cancellation will be possible unless:

1) the edition, supplement, or awards program you are to appear in has not yet been produced internally;
2) and you agree to pay the invoice in full;
3) or you send an email notifying

The Lawyers Global^® that you would like to cancel within 48 hours of the production proofing email sent to you.

If the edition, supplement, or awards program you are to appear in has not yet been produced, and you agree to pay the invoice in full, we will remove your booking entry from the relevant publication.

Law Firms' Listing Data and Information Updates

All clients with an active membership subscription are entitled to free updates performed by The Lawyers Global^® team upon request via email.

Law firms without an active subscription may request updates to their active listing information, including logos, firm name, and other information. In these cases, law firms must request a budget estimate for the requested updates to  The Lawyers Global^® via email, using our contact form. 

A different approach, if the law firm has no membership subscription active, they may subscribe to one of our Membership Plans that include the Free Updates here.

Suspended Firms, and Due Payments

After The Lawyers Global^® issues the invoice for your order as the Client, payment is due immediately except if a written agreement proves otherwise.

a) For Wire Transfer payments, these must be received and the funds transferred confirmed by The Lawyers Global^® within a maximum of 10 (ten) business days, after which the Client listing will be suspended and the Client notified by email. 

b) For PayPal™ payments with debit, credit cards, or PayPal™ funds, the fees must be received and confirmed by The Lawyers Global^® within a maximum of 5 (five) business days, after which the Client listing will be suspended and the Client notified by email via PayPal™ and from our Commercial Department.

If we still do not receive a reply and a confirmation that the payment was successful, The Lawyers Global^® will, without notice, begin all procedures deemed to collect the due amounts, which may include legal actions.

In any of the above cases, the law firm will keep being listed in our directories marked as "SUSPENDED LAW FIRM", and its respective profile will show the same information, and in some cases, the Reason for Suspension will be publicly visible.

Any request to remove the firm listing due to any unpaid invoice or due amount will have a cost of 25% (twenty-five percent) of the due amount and must be paid via PayPal™ within a maximum of 2 (two) business days, after which it will be added to the 25% above mentioned, 1.5% per day.

The Lawyers Global^® reserves the right to take any legal actions for debt recovery against the Client if an agreement isn't reached within a week after our last payment request. All legal actions are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Portugal.

Directories, Law FIrms, Awards and Countries' Listings

The Lawyers Global^® reserves the right to, without prior notice, suspend or ban temporarily or permanently from our system any country, law firm, company, or organization which, directly or indirectly:

1. Violates our Terms of Service and Conditions;
2. Violates International Laws;
3. Violates human rights;
4. Threatens directly or indirectly, global safety and freedom, in any kind or form;
5. Expresses terrorist threats in any way that affects the daily lives, freedom, and security of those who share the same intangible values about human rights, justice, and peace.

In any of the above-mentioned cases, the suspension or ban will be communicated through a Press Release on our website, will be sent to all the relevant national and international media, and published on our social network accounts.

Delivery Policy and Damaged Goods

Certificates, Trophies, and other non-digital shipping goods

The Lawyers Global^®  is not responsible for any loss, non-delivery or loss by the courier/postal services in the country of destination.
Provided that the recipient's address in the shipments' shipping slip, follows the information received or available in the contacts area of the law firm, any losses, misplacements, delays, rejection of receipt, or impossibilities of delivery in the country of destination or by the postal services thereof, The Lawyers Global^® cannot be held responsible for any of the incidents above described.

In case of a request for a return/re-shipment for the above-described cases, any of the associated costs will be supported exclusively by the law firm.

In case the mailings/shippings are rejected, exceed the delivery deadlines provided by the postal services of Portugal – CTT, The Lawyers Global^® will resend, free of charge, to the recipient, as well as a complaint will be filed against the postal services of Portugal – CTT.

Magazine

The Lawyers Global^® magazine is published four times per year, and The Lawyers Global^® Awards magazine, once a year. We endeavor to send print subscription copies 72 hours after the quarterly digital edition has been published on www.thelawyersglobal.org.

If your magazine, trophy, or any other purchased product from The Lawyers Global^®, reaches you in a damaged condition, we will endeavor to ship a new copy/item free of charge within five working days.

These terms and conditions govern your use of The Lawyers Global^® website. Please read the terms in full before you use this Website. If you do not accept these terms, please do not use this Website. Using the Website implies that you accept these terms. We do occasionally update these terms, so please refer back to them in the future. If you have registered and have an account on our Website, anytime these terms are updated, we will send you an email notifying that same fact so that you may stay up to date with the latest changes in our Terms and Conditions.

You will be able to access most of this Website without registering any details with us. However, particular areas of this Website will only be accessible only if you have registered and have the right permissions to access those specific areas.

The Lawyers Global^® reserves the right, without prior notice, to block any access considered as a threat to us or our system.

You are permitted to use our Website for your purposes and to print and download material from this Website provided that you do not modify any content without the consent of The Lawyers Global^®. Material on this Website must not be republished online or offline without our permission.

The copyright and other intellectual property rights in all material on this Website are owned by us or our licensors and must not be reproduced without our prior consent.

Subject to paragraph 1.2, no part of this Website may be reproduced without our prior written permission. Any permission to reproduce or use copyrighted material from our Website must be requested by email using the online form and choosing the "Info" department select field.

Website Uptime

We take all reasonable steps to ensure that this Website is available 24 hours every day, 365 days per year. However, websites sometimes encounter downtime due to maintenance tasks requiring a slight downtime interruption of our services, server, and other technical issues. Therefore, we will not be liable if our Website is unavailable at any time.

This Website may be temporarily unavailable due to system failure, maintenance or repair, or reasons beyond our control. Where possible, we will try to give our visitors a warning of maintenance issues but shall not be obliged to do so.

Visitor Conduct

Except for personally identifiable information, the use of which is covered under The Lawyers Global^® Privacy Policy, any material you send or post to this Website shall be considered non-proprietary and not confidential. Unless you advise to the contrary, we will be free to copy, disclose, distribute, incorporate, and otherwise use such material for any and all purposes.

When using this Website, you shall not post or send to or from this Website any material:

• for which you have not obtained all necessary consents;
• that is discriminatory, obscene, pornographic, defamatory, liable to incite racial hatred, in breach of confidentiality or privacy, which may cause annoyance or inconvenience to others, which encourages or constitutes conduct that would be deemed a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise is contrary to the law in Portugal
• which is harmful in nature, including, and without limitation, computer viruses, Trojan horses, corrupted data, or other potentially dangerous software or data.
• Whenever you register to have your user account, you must confirm your email address. Failure to do so will result in the account cancelation after three notifications from us.

We will fully co-operate with any law enforcement authorities or court order requiring us to disclose the identity or other details of any person posting material to this Website in breach of Paragraph 1.8.

This exclusion shall include servicing or repair costs and, without limitation, any other direct, indirect, or consequential loss. Whether in tort or contract or otherwise in connection with this Website.

Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit liability for (i) death or personal injury caused by negligence as defined by or limited under the law of Portugal.

Paid for Subscription:  Cancellation and Refunds

Should you wish to cancel your subscription, you must do so within seven working days from the payment date by contacting commercial@thelawyersglobal.org. Upon receiving your cancellation request, a full refund will be issued within 14 working days.

Cancellation requests made after seven working days from the payment date will not be accepted, and no refund will be given.

Payments due to The Lawyers Global® are always in Euros. The Lawyers Global^® does not accept any additional third-party charges that may be added by intermediary companies, like financial or banking institutions.

Governing Jurisdiction

This Legal Notice shall be governed by and construed following Portuguese law. Any dispute(s) arising with this Legal Notice is subject to Portugal's exclusive jurisdiction.
